01. Global Site Information
We don’t read and write because it’s cute. We read and write because we are members of the human race And the human race is filled with passion. Medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. That you are here; that life exists, that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?

Aludium; noun.
Aludium pu-36 is a green substance, used in the creation of particular alcoholic drinks in the outer rim territories. Said to be strong enough to cause vision problems and a feeling of time distortion.

Welcome to Aludium, the most complete and immersive Star Wars roleplay on the internet. Here, we proudly offer the largest host of planets and sectors for roleplay locales, a dedicated 24 hour staff team and advanced plot and character development resources. Don't simply write about the Star Wars galaxy - be a part of it!

Set in an escalated timeline, our forum operates on the real history of the galaxy, beginning with its central core worlds and how they advanced across the stars. As more and more boards open up for your enjoyment, there's always something happening at Aludium. Play your characters throughout the history of the planets, the politics and the people, as well as the over and again conflicts between the Jedi and the Sith. Your characters, however, need not be limited to Force-users. Instead, consider bounty hunters, politicians, assassins, traders, military commanders and all other walks of life open to you in the Star Wars universe.

Your knowledge of the universe is less necessary than your enthusiasm. Seen all the movies? That'll just about do it. For further information, read the details posted around the forum, all of which describe what you need to know, as well as offering links to the appropriate Wookieepedia pages for further information. Whether you're a newcomer or a veteran to the fandom, if Star Wars is your thing, then sign on up and become a part of the most extensive Star Wars roleplaying experience available.

[attr="class","enc_head"]II. Site Statistics

[attr="class","enc_sub"]Site statistics are currently unavailable.

Aludium is a brand new forum meaning that we have yet to acquire the full statistics you might expect for a roleplay site. As soon as more members join the community and more characters are created, this section will be updated to display the gender and alliance balances of the site, as a whole. This should help new members to pick and choose which characters they wish to create, in order to keep the balance of the forum in check and ensure that they have both enough antagonists and peers to plot with. So, for now, enjoy the freedom and let your imagination run wild!

[attr="class","enc_head"]III. The Galactic Date

[attr="class","enc_sub"]The current galactic date is 27,500 BBY.

The galactic date will change as the timeline for the forum develops and progresses. This is decided by the Aludium staff team and will be announced across the forum as and when time jumps occur. For more information on the global plot of the site as of the current date, just go to the Current Timeline page.

The Infinite Empire, as the Rakata call themselves, have targeted worlds that are rich with the Force, which they have conquered, thus enslaving their populations. The Rakata have developed technology that allows them to induce fear and hatred within Force-sensitive beings, and then use their Force-sensitive slaves (gathered from among the populations they have conquered) to fuel their warships and technology. They do this by placing the Force-sensitives into machines that convert their dark side emotions into energy.

Circa 30,000 BBY, the Rakata had already tunneled through hyperspace in order to lay claim to a vast Infinite Empire that now gives them galactic dominance. Their extensive civilization has spread across countless star systems. Through the use of their dark side-fueled technologies such as the Force-powered hyperdrive, the Builders' Infinite Empire has dominated known space for several thousand years already. Many of the most prominent worlds of the galaxy are included within this empire, such as Corellia, Honoghr, Generis, Hijarna, Xo, and Dantooine. All fall under their dominion. However, their hyperdrives can only visit worlds possessing strong force signatures - and not those naturally low in the Force - resulting in huge voids in between their conquered worlds. The haphazardous nature of their empire has allowed for numerous other civilizations to flourish, and loose confederacies of other civilizations have managed to develop in the spaces between Rakatan worlds through the use of dangerous, as well as unpredictable, hyperdrive technology.

[attr="class","enc_head"]IV. Liquid Time

[attr="class","enc_sub"]As with most roleplaying sites...

Aludium operates a liquid time policy, where you can roleplay your character in multiple boards/settings at the same time. This allows members to keep roleplaying even when they are waiting on other people to reply. Just remember that each thread should be within a similar timeframe for your character. Suddenly jumping several years can be confusing for other members.

[attr="class","enc_head"]V. Escalated Timeline

[attr="class","enc_sub"]Aludium offers an escalated timeline setting.

An escalated timeline basically means that time has no effect on your characters. Our site is kept up-to-date with the current galactic year and the events that happened within that time frame. We move, in a timely manner, from one event to another, throughout the history of the galaxy, picking up on the most interesting story and plot points. This escalated skip through hundreds and thousands of years has no effect on the characters created on our forum.

WHY DO WE OPERATE THIS TIMELINE?
Star Wars is an expansive and dynamic world that has thousands of locations, plots and ideas on-going at any one time. The theorem behind the creation of Aludium is that no roleplay forum could grasp the scope of the Star Wars galaxy and maintain a global site plot or fast-paced tension in its setting. This risks us losing the interesting atmosphere and excitement that should come with Star Wars. As such, Aludium offers, over time, the entire history of the galaxy as its global site plot, thereby offering something new and interesting at every time-jump and avoiding the potential for slow development or the stagnation of ideas. But, because we do this slowly, over time, we don't bombard our members with the entire galaxy all at once. The aim is to keep expanding the available galaxy and timeline, as our community expands and our member count goes up. So that our resources increase to meet roleplaying demand and so that there is always something interesting happening in the universe.

HOW DOES THIS AFFECT YOUR CHARACTER?
You can age your character however you wish and have them grow old or die whenever and however you like. If you wish it, your character can see the entire creation and destruction of the galaxy. The only limits to this immortality are the boundaries you place on the character yourself. For instance - if your character is a trained Jedi, it is very unlikely they will survive the execution of Order 66 in 19 BBY. If the species of your character goes extinct, be prepared to kill off that character. Our staff implement these rules very rarely (it is rare for something so severe to happen in the universe at all) and only do so in order to maintain the realism and authenticity of the Star Wars universe.

The only other limit you have to keeping your characters alive through the entirety of the Star Wars universe, is the character limit that we have in place per member. You can read more about this in The Rule Book.

There is a maximum of three characters per person allowed on Aludium. This measure is an attempt to encourage creativity, rather than stifle it. We are interested in multiple, quality-driven characters rather than a plethora of poorly developed tropes. This character limit is lifted after a member has secured over two hundred posts with each character and over a thousand posts collectively. The character limit is then raised to six characters. This is the maximum on Aludium.

[attr="class","enc_link"]Go To: The Rule Book

[attr="class","enc_head"]VI. Language Level

[attr="class","enc_sub"]Aludium is an intermediate to advanced roleplay site.

The absolutely necessary level of roleplay required is a good, standardised use of the English language. We're all human and we all occasionally make mistakes but, in general, we expect accurate spelling and grammar and several paragraphs per post as an approximate minimum. We do not penalise against American English or British English spellings - both are acceptable.

[attr="class","enc_head"]VII. The Universe

[attr="class","enc_sub"]The Star Wars universe is vast and diverse.

Over the forty plus years that the canon has been around, books, games, comics and films have added range and detail to the galaxy far far away. At Aludium, we intend to use that galaxy to the fullest, creating the most real and invested experience a roleplayer can have in a Star Wars setting. From the planets to the trade routes, from the politics to the weapons, our site aims to offer a roleplaying experience like no other.

Due to our escalated timeline and loyalty to the Star Wars plotline, we have created a roleplay board for every planet in the Star Wars galaxy. However, at the beginning of the galactic timeline, these planets were uninhabited or undiscovered. As such, the planetary systems of the galaxy will be revealed as the timeline progresses. Currently we offer all of the planets in the Deep Core and Core Worlds sectors. As humanoid-kind stretches across the stars, and as our site membership increases to require the extra creation space, so too will more categories and boards become available.

[attr="class","enc_head"]VIII. Our Additions

[attr="class","enc_sub"]Some elements of the full, expanded Star Wars universe are vague or lacking in detail.

- planets only mentioned once, for example, or races of being that we know little about. As such, any additions that our staff make to the Star Wars world are printed below. If you have an addition to be made - be it adding details to a race of being or managing an undiscovered planet, please let a member of staff know and we will be happy to update the below information.

There are currently no additions made to the Aludium universe.

To request an addition to the universe, copy and paste the below code into a message, fill it in, and send it to our admin team at @ admin.

[b]ADDITION REQUEST[/b]

[b]Addition Request:[/b]
Describe the addition that you would like to add.

[b]Wookieepedia Link:[/b]
Provide a link to any applicable, pre-existing Wookieepedia pages.

[b]Reason for Addition:[/b]
Describe why you would like to make this addition to the site setting.

[attr="class","enc_link"]Submit Your Request

Please note that we only accept additions to the Star Wars universe, not changes. If you find a world or species with little information surrounding it, make your own addition to the site and then official or canon productions create something that contradicts your addition, Aludium will hold your addition as fact and simply note the discrepancy on this page. But, in an effort to be as accurate as possible, we only accept additional information not yet specified in canon Star Wars. We do not accept changes to pre-existing official material.

[attr="class","enc_head"]IX. Canon Characters

[attr="class","enc_sub"]At Aludium, we do accept canon characters.

Anyone is welcome to create a template for a canon character and the application will be judged on its own merit. All canon characters are open for roleplay, but are restricted to their own timeframes. So, they can be created, so long as they exist in the time period currently being roleplayed. To play Luke Skywalker, for example, he cannot be created until 19 BBY and he will die some time between 45 ABY and 137 ABY; canon characters are the most exciting to roleplay but the most limited in when you can; check out the Canon Characters page for more information on roleplaying a canon character in the current time period.

At Aludium, we happily accept Canon Characters. These are characters who are already a part of the Star Wars universe. This includes characters that are featured in the movies, or are a part of the expanded universe in the books, comics and TV shows. We do, however, had a few regulations when it comes to how they are played.

[attr="class","enc_head"]X. Rankings

[attr="class","enc_sub"]A simple way of keeping track of your posting longevity.

Aludium operates a non-powers ranking system. This is a purely aesthetic achievement that offers a few rewards at certain levels but has no authoritative or power-based responsibilities. You can tell a characters rank based on the coloured side bar that runs down the right hand side of a member's posts. Below is a key of the colours.

Newcomer - 0 Posts
Padawan - 150 Posts
Knight - 500 Posts (10% off items in the Emporium)
Master - 1000 Posts (25% off items in the Emporium)
Legend - 5000 Posts (40% off items in the Emporium, Free Custom Side Bar Images)

You'll also see particular colours for particular staff positions. These are listed below.
